Have you ever been through a traumatic experience? Something really bad that you thought you couldn’t recover from? I have recently. I was in a really dark place full of self-loathing and self-hate. I won’t go into all the details but if you have experienced something similar you will understand. My answer to this horrific experience has been to give it time. Give yourself time to heal and time to come to terms with what is happening to you. Another thing, I know it is hard but I say don’t listen to the people around you. They’re only trying to help, that’s true, but they mostly do more harm than good. You are the only one who knows what you actually need. That can be some time apart or maybe being constantly busy, you are the only one who knows, so listen to yourself.
The end of the year is nearing and it is the perfect moment for a little reflection. What happened this year that you might regret, or what is it that you wished you did. For me the most important is to not have to have regrets. You can make mistakes, we are all human after all, but do everything you want to do. Life can be over in an instant. It is important to live it, I think. Rejoice the good times and reflect about the bad times. Count your blessings today because they can be fleeting. Of course this is not a YOLO speech. Do what you want to do, but in a sensible manner. Look for your goals in life and do everything to work towards them. Do not negotiate on them, own yourself!
Now, I’ll stop preaching, it’s f*cking Christmas. Go eat lots of food, laugh with your family, have lots of sex and go crazy on the new year with your friends. There will be enough time to reflect on your life in January! Just make sure that you do!
